Meet Sarah.
Sarah Stapleton (she/they)
Now, more than ever, people are struggling with finding a true sense of safety and belonging. They may feel exhausted and overwhelmed just getting through the day, struggling with the pain of past traumas, or trying to find balance while taking care of everyone else in their life over themselves. This is why I founded Counterspiral Care, a clinic dedicated to equity, inclusion, and celebration of people for who they truly are.
I identify as queer, genderfluid, white, and neurodivergent, all of which are identities and lived experiences that inform and influence my practice. I continually strive to expand my knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, and to practice through an anti-racist, queer-affirming, neurodivergent-affirming, and anti-oppressive lens. I am a firm believer in lifelong learning and advocacy, and am always curious about new ways to support my clients in understanding and celebrating their intersectionality and diversity.
My therapeutic approach is warm, judgment-free, curiosity-based, and compassionate, centered around building a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients. With a background in psychotherapy, education, vocal music, and suicide intervention, I draw from my unique life experiences throughout my client work, and love discovering the strengths and opportunities held within my clients’ life experiences in kind. I believe in holistic and embodied therapy, drawing from modalities such as CBT, DBT, narrative, EFT, parts work, mindfulness, and somatic therapies. I am regularly engaging in professional development to add new modalities to my therapeutic toolbox and to sharpen and refine my existing practices.
